We're just two months away from Epcot turning the big 3-5 and Disney teased us with all the new merchandise they'll be launching to celebrate the occasion.
The Disney Parks Merchandise team announced Monday they created a retro-inspired collection that "captures the essence of a spirited phrase from Epcot's beginnings, 'We've just begun to dream.'"
A nod to the original Epcot is the use of purple, pink, red, orange and gold, the colors that were prominently featured on merch in the park's opening year.
“Many of the artists on my team are long-time Epcot fans,” Eric Caszatt, Creative Manager with the Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media Creative Group, said to the Disney Parks Blog. “We wanted the art to have a distinct vintage feeling, and take its cues from artwork, logos, signage, and in-park graphics found in the early 1980s."
Well, mission accomplished, sir.
Items for sale include a variety of shirts, hats, posters, license plates, pins and so much more, judging from the photos released in the Disney Parks Blog.
In addition to getting a retro version of the iconic Spaceship Earth, the anniversary merch will have a whole collected dedicated to Figment.
According to Disney, the Epcot 35th Anniversary Collection will be released in select locations inside Epcot next month. Some items will also be released through the Shop Disney Parks app.
And Disney's not stopping there! They also teased that even more specialty items have been created for sale specifically on Oct. 1, the park's actual anniversary.
They didn't release any details about that collection yet, but it correlates with the company's recent push for limited edition opening day items, like the collected released for the opening of Pandora -- The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
