And with a kiss -- well, lots of kisses -- Gaylord Palms Resort set a new Guinness World Record Thursday night
As directed by Guinness World Records adjudicator Michael Empric, 448 couples locked lips for 10 seconds under sprigs of mistletoe to break the record for "Most couples kissing under mistletoe (single location)."
The record was set last year at Six Flags Over Georgia where 215 couples kissed. Gaylord Palms clearly smashed it under the six-story Christmas tree in the resort's St. Augustine Atrium.
About 450 couples had registered for the event, which was sponsored by Experience Kissimmee, Osceola County's tourism arm.
“These couples helped to make history during this unforgettable attempt at the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for Most couples kissing under mistletoe at Gaylord Palms Resort,” said Empric. “Congratulations and welcome to the Guinness World Records family!”
For less than $40, couples who registered for the event got to be part of the record attempt, received complimentary parking, some special event swag (a pin and Christmas ornaments), and access to ICE! featuring Christmas Around the World.
In addition to being part of the fun challenge, the price of registration was well worth it as regular adult admission to ICE! runs around $30 per person.
