Mobile ordering is now available at Flame Tree Barbecue, making it the third restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom to offer the service.
Disney first introduced mobile ordering at Satu'li Canteen, a fast casual restaurant in the recently-opened Pandora -- The World of Avatar. Since then, the service expanded to include Pizzafari.
The service, offered through the My Disney Experience app, will further expand this summer to include Restaurantosaurus, also located in Animal Kingdom.
Disney leaders said the app's expansion this summer will focus on Animal Kingdom, but there are plans to extend it to other fast casual and quick service locations around Walt Disney World Resort.
No specific dates have been given for possible expansions into Magic Kingdom, Epcot or Hollywood Studios.
For those unfamiliar with the mobile ordering process, here's a quick recap:
Users first pick the restaurant they want to order from. Then, they select whichever meals and drinks they want (which conveniently includes alcoholic beverage options where available). Once you're ready to order, tap the "I'm here" button to notify the kitchen and prompt them to prepare your meal.
Users are notified when their meal is ready and they'll pick it up from a dedicated, marked counter space.
It's worth noting that a credit card must be linked to the My Disney Experience app to process any mobile orders and credit cards are the only accepted method of payment at this time.
Personal note: I've used the mobile ordering option several times since it launched at the end of May. I found it to be not only easy to use, but the best way to get quick service without the hassle of dealing with the long lines of the summer tourist season.
