Now through July 29, SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium is hosting Shark Month with a variety of activities for guests, including a chance to get your own "sharkfie."
So, what exactly is a sharkfie? It's when Sea Life divers snap a selfie with a shark and the guests behind them. According to Sea Life leaders, divers will take an underwater camera with them on their daily dives (which recur hourly from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) to try and capture those moments.
"From the moment you walk in the door, it's like you've been transported to a magical underwater world," said James Paulding, the attraction's general manager, in a news release. "The idea to offer these beyond-the-glass shark selfies for Shark Month really stemmed from our desire to further expand on the playfulness and interactivity of the SEA LIFE experience so we decided to turn our divers into underwater photographers."
Sea Life leaders said sharks are notoriously shy, so it'll be interesting to see what photos they manage to nab of the more than 500 species are sharks they have in their tanks.
In addition to sharkfies, shark-focused Dive Talks and Toddler Times will take place for the duration of the month, according to attraction leaders.
